'Our First Honorary Member!'
At our very enjoyable Christmas party in December, we welcomed Betty Aldred after several months absence.
She has decided not to continue her memberdship due to health reasons.
However we have now raised her to the rank of our first Honorary member,
for her sterling contribution to the group over many years.
Below is a photo of Betty receiving her certificate.

Christina Nobel Childrens Foundation Quilt Draw - 22nd August
The draw for the Christina Nobel Children's Foundation 'Here Comes Summer' Quilt raffle took place today, August 22nd, at the 'Open Garden' at Jackie's house in Moorland Ave.
Sadly the weather was not in keeping with the 'Here comes Summer' title at all - it rained continuously!
Janette Duke - Mayor of New Milton, braved the weather and as promised came and drew the raffle.
The lucky and delighted winner was Molly Gadsdew of New Milton who bought her ticket when she attended the fete at St Mary Magdalen's Church.
M. Dow - won 2nd prize of a large cushion.
B. Black - won 3rd prize of a small cushion.

Molly Gadsdew, the delighted winner of the 'Here Comes Summer' quilt.
The quilt raffle made a total of £322 for the C.N.C.F. charity.
Boldbataar's quilt is making progress. All the blocks have now been joined and a border of matching cat fabric added. It has been layered with wadding and backing and now needs to be quilted.

St Mary Magdalene Church Fete- Saturday 24th July
We were kindly allowed to have a stand at the fete in order to promote both Rectory Quilters and the Christina Nobel Children's Foundation, and to sell raffle tickets for the 'Here Comes Summer' quilt.
It was a beautifully hot and sunny day. The turn out was tremendous, partly due to the weather but also because Chris Jarvis of CBB children's TV was there to open it.
He very kindly bought some raffle tickets and joined a group of children in front of the quilt for a photo!
Several children helped add blocks to the quilt being made for Boldbataar - the little boy in Mongolia.

New Milton Community Picnic
Organised at very short notice, and after our last meeting in June - on Sunday 27th June - Rectory Quilters joined other groups from the area at a 'Community Picnic' organised by Janette Duke our new Mayor.
It was a very hot afternoon, with plenty of organisations showing what New Milton has to offer - lots of activities for children - but sadly due to the football, the attendance dropped just before kick off!
However we had a good afternoon - selling raffle tickets for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation Quilt, and providing the children with a 'hands - on' fabric painting and sewing activity - which proved popular with many adults too!
These squares will be joined together to make a lap quilt for 'Boldbataar' a Mongolian boy who has rickets. Here the children can follow the making of the quilt and hopefully see Boldbataar with the quilt when it is finished.
The photos show our colourful stall and some of the children and helpers working on the fabric squares. The children put so much thought into the pictures they drew on their squares.
More photos will be added to the site as the blocks are joined and made into the quilt.

'Tea At 3' 16th May 2010
Held At St. Mary Magdalene Church Hall in aid of Oakhaven Hospice.
Well done to everyone who did their part in raising the tremendous total of £864 for Oakhaven.
Thank you if you sold raffle tickets, made delicious cakes, brought flowers for the tables, donated tombola prizes, made and wore an apron, made a quilt or helped serving teas and washing up - it was another great day, with so much positive feed back.
This has now become an annual event - here's to next year!
Congratulations to the challenge winners, Val, Mollie and Joy
